23 ski hotels with heated pools
Embracing the cold snap fromthepoolside way and trying virtual reality to learn more about myself.
Many of you have been reading this newsletter for a long time and whilst I’m going to continue to keep this free, if my content has ever brought you any joy or been helpful to you over the years, now is the time to support me by becoming a paid subscriber. It’s less than £1.20 a week (if you take the annual subscription), will mean a lot to me and will give you access to more resources too. Merci!
Bonjour!
This week, I experienced a new method of being trained, using virtual reality. We were divided into 3 groups - the makers, the supervisors and the managers - and had a mission to save ourselves from the Apollo station, about to be hit by a storm of asteroids.
It was fascinating to be transported into another universe but even more interesting to receive the report - generated automatically based on observing our behaviour in the universe and each other - only a few hours later. It was really accurate too!
One suggestion was for me to consider regularly looking at long term goals and how I am meeting my objectives.
I love learning and trying new things and I can certainly set a long term vision but it’s true that I don’t always stick at something long enough to ensure that I’ll get there! I know you can do 90 days sprints, quarterly reviews, have an accountability partner, set up systems etc but what I need is probably a mindset change.
How about you? Are you better with short or long term goals? Are you easily diverted by shiny new things and go on a tangent?
In hotel news, you may have seen the launch of the World’s Best Hotels by the same organisation that created the famous World’s Best Restaurants. Smart business move. One of the area leaders is a travel journalist I follow on Instagram, she goes to amazing places. I messaged her asking to be on the jury - as they said 20% of them will be seasoned luxury travellers. Very slim chance of being considered but hey, didn’t I say that my motto this year was “Just do it” ;-)
With the freezing cold in many parts of Europe, it’s probably easier to think of how to get cozy in the house - chunky sweaters, cup of hot tea, crackling fire - than picturing oneself by the poolside in a bikini at the moment!
If you are planning a ski holiday - fingers crossed that snow levels get higher in the mountains - then you may like to revisit my post about boutique ski hotels with pools.
Have a good week.
