Back to my travels: upcoming plans and reviews to come!
What I'll be sharing with you this year. #79
Back to a travel-focused intro this week to tell you about my upcoming plans and therefore the reviews or photo reports you can expect from me.
Next week, I’m off to Milan for a work seminar. As usual the recommended corporate hotel was rather depressing so I did a bit of research for something within the company recommended costs (Milan is really expensive) and found Matilde Boutique Hotel which looks nice.
I similarly suggested another hotel for a forthcoming work away day in York in September. We will be staying at Number 1 by Guesthouse York, which I had listed here in one of my extra finds, if you remember.
In terms of personal travels, we are not doing too much this year as Mademoiselle has to dedicate time to revision. For Easter, we are back to my mum’s in the South of France and then, on our way to Ile de Ré, where we hope to visit some houses to purchase (not sure this will ever happen!), we will stop at Caudalie and check out the renovation they did last year. Our usual stay in Ile de Ré will be at Le Sénéchal.
This summer, we are back to Greece. We loved Eros Keros so much, we had to go back. Koufonissia is a small island off Naxos, which still feels authentic and with not many foreign tourists. Anita is such a wonderful host and Eros Keros offers everything we need: a splendid view, understated chic, space, a very friendly service and access to a pool and a beach and all the great relaxing time that Greece can offer. My brother, who first introduced us to Eros Keros, also recommended Naxos inland so we will spend a few days there, mostly hiking and visiting the villages. I found a place that seems to offer the same blend of authenticity, taste and hospitality as Eros Keros. It’s called Ayiopetra and I can’t wait to experience it.
Because we will leave pretty late in the summer - 15th of August - I managed to convince Mr Big to have a longer holiday as a trade off to such a late departure. I am more of a July or early August person and the idea to have to wait until mid-August is really difficult for me but at least we will be gone for 2 and a half weeks, which is a looooonnng holiday for British people! At the end of our Greek trip, we will stop in Provence for a few days so that I can have my essential summer dose of France. We will check out the newly renovated Capelongue and conclude in luxury indulgence at Villa Lacoste. It will be the last few days of August by then so I’m counting on less people tramping the streets of Bonnieux and the Lubéron…
And if we can fit it in, time and budget wise, we may try to sneak in a mid-week stay at Estelle Manor to test their newly opened Roman spa!
Which of those hotels are you most impatient to read my honest rewiew about?
