Summer plans and hotel reviews to look forward to
Where we are going this summer and my Coronation cooking attempts, #49
We hosted friends for diner last night and decided to go for a Coronation theme of course. I cooked one of the official dishes - the vegetarian quiche, wich was delicious - and went for lamb as a main course (which was a disaster!) and a Victoria sponge decorated with berries to resemble the Union Jack 🇬🇧 (that one was very good, pfiouh!).
Even as a resolute French republican, I do appreciate those royal moments in the UK for what they teach me about my adoptive country. I observe them as I would if I was travelling to a far away country. I marvel at the organisation, the beautiful music, I am surprised by the collective enthusiasm - less among my friends but certainly amongs many in the country - and I reflect on what it says about the British people.
There is a lot of fun coming with it too. Look at that picture of a car that drove by my neighborhood today! And of course all the street parties - luckily the weather turned sunny today…

As I mentioned last week, we have now firmed up our summer plans and I look forward to sharing our hotel stays with you.
First we will head back to Heckfield Place in early July now that they have finally opened their spa.
And then for two weeks in August, we will enjoy our summer holiday back in France in some of our favourite places. We are staying for a couple of days at luxury hotel Crillon le Brave in Provence and then will go back to Cap Ferret and Villa Mogador with its fabulous pool for a lot of family time.
What are your summer plans?
Jolies Choses
KernanOH! Only one today but it’s one very close to my heart as it’s the small business of my childhood friend. During Covid, she started creating those beautiful bracelets which she sells online now. She spends a lot of time finding the right threads and is inspired by her travels and her daily life. Lots of colours to choose from. Do have a look.

Exciting plans! I was looking at your dates to see if there was any overlap for me in the UK but alas, not this time. Heckfield Place looks really nice! Will bookmark it for future trips.
